Patient Access means that you can choose to:
• Book and cancel appointments with your GP online
• Order repeat prescriptions
• Look at the information in your medical record
You will be able to do this on a website or an app using a computer, a tablet or a smartphone.
Online services are free to use and are just another way of contacting your surgery.
How to apply:-
You can print off the application form and bring to the reception desk any afternoon with your ID. We will then generate your log on details while you wait.
Please note that two forms of ID are required to register for Patient Access
Photo ID (Passport or Driving Licence)
Proof of Address (Utility bill, Bank statement or letter from benefit agency)
PLEASE NOTE - Mobile phone bills and store reward card letters are not acceptable
Appointments can be made by telephoning the surgery from 08:00 each weekday.
We cannot always guarantee that you will see the doctor of your choice for same day appointments.
A percentage of our GP appointments are available for booking up to a week in advance using our 24-hour automated booking system, subject of course to individual doctors leave etc.
Please ask for more than one appointment if you want more than one patient to be seen.
We will do our best to ensure that you are seen on time but some consultations do take longer than others and we have no way of knowing this in advance. Patients with emergency or serious problems will be given priority. If there is a prolonged delay, you will be kept informed. Please bear in mind that any delay is not the fault of the reception staff. Please try to be punctual: if you arrive late for your appointment you may be asked to re-book for another time.
Practice Nurses/Health Care Assistants
Practice Nurse and Health Care Assistant appointments are available every day between 08:30 and 17:00 for cervical smears, chronic disease monitoring, healthy living advice, travel advice and vaccination, electrocardiogram (ECG) and 24 hour blood pressure monitoring.
If you wish to speak to a nurse then please ask the receptionist to book the next available telephone consultation appointment. This may not always be on the day you call.
Please note telephone consultations should not be used for travel advice.
Sometimes it is necessary for a doctor to conduct an intimate examination. If you think this is likely to happen you may wish to bring a relative or friend with you. If not, the doctor will offer a chaperone. Your privacy and dignity will be maintained at all time. Please feel free to ask for a chaperone should you wish one to be present during your appointment.
If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else and re-arrange your appointment for a more convenient time.
New Service Voice Connect
From 1st December 2016 the surgery introduced a new telephone service Voice Connect. Patients can book, cancel and check their own appointments any time night and day. All you need to use this new system is a touch tone telephone, your contact telephone number and date of birth. When you telephone the surgery select option 1 for the automated booking service and follow the simple instructions.
PLEASE NOTE: You must inform the surgery if you change your contact telephone number(s) - landline and mobile.
Appointments are wasted each month due to patients not attending their appointment/failing to notify us that they cannot attend. Please find below the figures for the past 3 months:-
- March 2020 - 26 GP appointments and 67 Practice Nurse/Health Care Assistant appointments were not attended
- April 2020 - 19 GP appointments and 6 Practice Nurse/Health Care Assistant appointments were not attended
- May 2020 - 18 GP appointments and 12 Practice Nurse/Health Care Assistant appointments were not attended
Please note that, as you would expect during the current COVID-19 outbreak, our DNA (Did Not Attend) statistics are exceptionally low due to the alteration in the way patient care is currently being delivered - the vast majority of our patients are receiving either telephone consultations or video consultations.
